Testimonials for the SI 10 Series
Emma --- "... The work we have done together has enabled me to reconnect with my body
and to learn to work with it rather than against it."
Rupert has helped me like no other body practitioner. The work we have done together has enabled me to reconnect with my body and to learn to work with it rather than against it.
Before I began the sessions, I regularly felt frustrated with many day-to-day tasks, as well as having periods of intense and debilitating upper back pain. I was completely unaware that this general frustration and discomfort stemmed from my experience of a misaligned, disconnected body. Since working with Rupert, I have been able to gain comfort and peace in my day-to-day life and as a result I have been able to succeed at many seemingly unrelated pursuits. My whole body-mind relationship has been transformed.
Rupert uses sophisticated verbal and touch-based techniques to bring about learning and change. These empowering techniques have helped me develop different frameworks for understanding my body. As the sessions progressed, I found I was able to integrate deeper levels of awareness and change. It feels as though Rupert works with me rather than on me. He is a holistic body educator as well as skilled bodywork practitioner and his work has had many unexpected positive impacts on both my physical and mental wellbeing. I could not recommend him more highly.

Sally --- "I feel that it has been totally worthwhile – greatly beneficial both physically and mentally.
... This is an amazing sensory experience: to have such awareness of my body as a whole ..."
For a long time, I had been looking for help with a range of recurring issues in my body. Some of the ailments I had been treated for at various times were: continuous tingling and numbness in fingers and hands; recurring strong pain at my elbow; stiffness and pain in neck and shoulders; headaches; and lower back pain (from an old injury).
Treatments that only addressed each area separately only had short-term effects, if any. I came to Structural Integration, as I understood it to be aimed at dealing with the whole of body, and how these problem areas related to each other. A few months on from finishing the 10 series, I feel that it has been totally worthwhile – greatly beneficial both physically and mentally.
After each session, I noticed immediate changes in my body – beyond just the aches and pains receding. I felt different in my body’s movement. I stood taller and straighter; I walked differently, more easily; I moved more freely, rather than very tightly wound in arms and legs. And I felt more connected to every move and action my body was taking – whether walking, sitting, or even resting. This is an amazing sensory experience: to have such awareness of my body as a whole, and as individual parts, and how they all connect. Just walking has become a whole new experience!
In addition to this, the various recurring aches and pains I had been experiencing have, for the most part, gone (especially the numbness and elbow pains which were affecting me at work on a daily basis). My heightened awareness of my posture has also benefited me at work as I am getting less back pain and headaches from bad posture at the desk.
Rupert is a gentle and compassionate practitioner. He eases you through each session, and any confronting issues you may face about your body and self as the sessions progress. He freely talked through my questions, and adjusted his technique as necessary. So it is about your experience and needs throughout. I cannot give enough kudos to Rupert, and to Structural Integration.

Pat --- "... has significantly impacted how I feel in the world and has affected every aspect of my life..."
After discovering Structural Integration and doing some research about it, I was very keen to try such an exciting method of treatment. The effects have been amazing and surprising. However, I have to admit that there were points during the series where my mind, body and spirit were obviously challenged - in a good way. I have tried various types of bodywork in the past. I have also taught and participated in Pilates for several years without (what felt to me) real or useful benefits.
The sense of immediate change in my body after a session was a great incentive for me. The fact that I could 'feel it doing me good' and the sense of release of muscle tension were wonderful. I always felt much taller after a session! However, there was always a sense of 'recovery' for me particularly after sessions that addressed some of the more 'armoured' areas of my body. I found I slept a lot and very well in those days following the sessions. After 3 or 4 days I would start to feel a sense of 'integration' and that something had shifted - often invigorated.
The benefits I have experienced from the 10 series have included better physical, emotional and spiritual integration. SI has helped me address long term breathing issues; physical / body awareness; as well as helping with painful joints. It helps me maintain better posture, particularly during exercise, which affords me better quality movement and hence exercise that is more beneficial to my body. The fact that I can breathe better now allows me to relax more, interact better with people and focus inwardly or outwardly (depending on the need) in a much more present way. The release of old muscle patterns and body ‘armouring’ has afforded me better posture, less knee and lower back pain and a general sense of height and length in my entire body. This has significantly impacted how I feel in the world and has affected every aspect of my life. I have found a significant change in my sense of self, and in particular, how I respond in potentially stressful situations.
Rupert is an attentive and gifted practitioner. He has an extremely strong connection with this work and a sense for what is needed. He is sensitive to how the work affects the individual and provides a safe and respectful environment for his clients.

Peter --- "... I feel fitter and better able to move freely without soreness or distortion."
I am a professional counsellor / psychologist and sit most of the day. In spite of having regular massages my body didn’t seen quite in tune and my movements were laboured and stilted. I found Rupert and completed a 10 session SI program. I noticed a shift in my awareness and physical positioning, and in a way I was relearning how to integrate movements so I felt freer and my soreness disappeared.
The sessions were delivered with appropriate explanation, and I felt confident in Rupert’s manner and approach. I practised the tips and allowed the shifts in my posture and body awareness to free me from stiffness and awkward movements. It has been 6 months since the sessions and I feel fitter and better able to move freely without soreness or distortion. I feel balanced both in mind and body.

Naomie --- "I still have a better understanding of my body and how to use it as a whole system..."
I started undergoing SI at Rupert's suggestion after a year or so of chronic pain due to a ruptured disk. I was a little sceptical about the treatment, but since I had developed a great deal of trust in Rupert over a year or so of remedial massage and the potential it held was so great, I decided to give it a go.
The sessions were rather different to traditional forms of massage therapy. Rather than being a passive subject experiencing a treatment, I needed to be involved, through small movements and being actively aware of how the treatment was affecting my body. This could sometimes be tiring, however mostly it strengthened my understanding of my body and it's reactions.
After each session I felt more capable of using my body with minimal strain to my back (or any other part of my body), and as if my body was working better as a whole. I often used to comment to people after each session that I felt as if I had done a yoga retreat for a weekend, I felt more relaxed and in tune. Even now, months after I have finished the 10 sessions of treatment, I still have a better understanding of my body and how to use it as a whole system.

Daniel --- "After each session I was more relaxed, more balanced... Chronic muscle tensions gradually released and resolved."
I have been hampered by chronic shoulder and wrist pain and inflexibility related to poor posture during long hours of computer work for over 10 years. I decided to undergo a series of structural integration sessions to address these symptoms, improve my posture and general wellbeing.
I found the Structural Integration sessions to be a considered and systematic approach, with each session building on the previous. After each session I was more relaxed, more balanced and found myself breathing deeper and with more ease. Chronic muscle tensions gradually released and resolved.
Rupert exhibits great sensitivity and intelligence; he always found effective ways of working while maintaining my comfort and addressing any concerns.
